Mastodon MSOC Drops First-Ever Meeting With Robert Morris

CANONSBURG, Pa. - The Purdue Fort Wayne men's soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision to Robert Morris on Saturday (March 6) at the SouthPointe Fieldhouse.
Scoreless through 45 minutes, the Mastodons led fellow Horizon League newcomer Robert Morris in shots 6-3. The Colonials went on to do the reverse of this in the second 45, getting a goal in the 62nd minute from Lorenzo Guagneli.
Midway through the first half, the Mastodons had a corner kick that led to a scoring opportunity for Marco Navarro, but his shot went wide left.
Mathias Mikalsen led the Purdue Fort Wayne offense with four shots, two of which were on goal. Both of his on-target chances came in the first 18 minutes. Mikalsen had two shots after the RMU goal to look for the equalizer, but missed to up top both times.
Erik Josson played all 90 minutes between the sticks, snagging four saves. Mike Zolnierczyk picked up the shutout for the Colonials.
Purdue Fort Wayne falls to 2-3, 2-3 Horizon League while RMU picks up its first League win, improving to 1-2-1. The Mastodons will play at Cleveland State next on Friday (March 12). The Vikings are coming off a 1-0 win at Milwaukee.
