Men's Golf Heads to Ohio For Dayton Flyer Invitational

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The Mastodon men's golf team is back in action on Monday and Tuesday (April 12-13) at the Dayton Flyer Invitational, a tournament they have played in every year since the 2009-10 season.

Our famed architect is credited with such historic designs as Bay Hill, Cog Hill, Doral, and Laurel Valley to name just a few. NCR's South Course, currently ranks #68 on Golfweek's Top 100 Classic list. The South Course, an extremely demanding par 71 layout covering 7,055 yards of wooded, rolling terrain, has long been considered a championship caliber golf course. The South Course has been a host site for many state, regional, and national golf championships in its 60 year history.

Eric Brinker is sixth in program history in career scoring average at 75.27. Kasey Lilly, who has only played 22 rounds as a Mastodon, will meet the minimum qualification of 25 rounds this week. If his 74.45 average holds, he will have the second-best career average in program history, only behind Zach Schroeder, who had a 74.36 average in his career from 2015-19.
Top-10 Finishes
Eric Brinker has five top-10 finishes in his career. He had two in each of his freshman and sophomore seasons and one as a junior in 2019-20. Kasey Lilly has been in the top 10 twice, tying Brinker for seventh at the Gary Freeman Invitational in March 2020 and tying for seventh at the Benbow Invitational in 2021.
Last Time Out
Six Mastodons posted their career-bests in the 54-hole tournament at the Butler Spring Invitational. Parker Deakyne (223), Hunter Mefford (230), Burke Pitz (220), Luke Miller (222), Jadden Ousley (233) and Reece Compton (237) all carded career-lows.
Next Time Up
The 'Dons will have one final tournament before turning attention to the Horizon League Championship: the Wright State Invitational. Purdue Fort Wayne's Zach Schroeder won the Wright State Invitational in 2019, which was the last rendition of the tournament.
