'Dons Finish Eighth at Dayton Flyer Intercollegiate

KETTERING, Ohio - Kasey Lilly of the Purdue Fort Wayne men's golf team finished the Dayton Flyer Intercollegiate in a tie for 12th place on Tuesday, April 13.
Lilly opened his round with a stretch of seven pars and a birdie. He birdied one after making the turn. He shot 71-67-74-212 to tie for 12th.
Behind Lilly, Burke Pitz carded a 74 on his final round, finishing at 71-72-74-217 and in 32nd place. Pitz had three birdies on Tuesday coming on holes one, two and 13.
Luke Miller and Jacob Deakyne were tied after the 54th hole was completed. They both shot 218 for 34th place.
Like Pitz, Miller also birdied holes one and two, but also birdied hole seven. He turned in 11 pars for his 74-72-72-218.
Jacob Deakyne used birdies on holes one and four to shoot even on the front nine in round three. He finished his day with a 73 to finish up the tournament at 74-71-73-218.
Parker Deakyne had two birdies in his round on holes two and 12. He shot 72-74-73-219 for 39th place. He had 11 pars on his final round.
As a team, the Mastodons shot 288-282-292-862 for eighth place. Host Dayton won the tournament as a team with an 835. Dayton's Kyle Schmidt and Cleveland State's Zak Supelak tied the individual best scores at 204.
The Mastodons will be back in action on Sunday, April 18 at the Wright State Invitational. The reigning champion of that tournament is former Mastodon Zach Schroeder.
