Kirkwood Breaks School Record at Hilltopper Relays

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. - On the final day of competition at the Hilltopper Relays at Western Kentucky, Dylan Kirkwood broke the school record in the 100 meter hurdles on Saturday (April 3) at the Charles M. Ruter Track and Field Complex.
Kirkwood finished in first place for the 100 meter hurdles and clocked in a record time of 14.48. Ramey Wilder finished the event in eighth with a time of 16.74m.
In the 400 meter dash, freshman Maya Preece recorded a time of 58.12, earning a fourth-place finish. Katie Clark came in 12th (1:00.04), Mackenzie Lanning was 13th (1:02.26) and Sophia Buck rounded out the Mastodons in 17th (1:08.52). Kathy Potter led the way for Purdue Fort Wayne in the 1500 meter run with a time of 5:04.41, finishing in 21st. Kiannah Sarver was 28th and clocked in at 5:15.50. The 4x100 meter relay team, consisting of Payton McHenry, Rachel Pierre-Louis, Haley Pandazis and Preece, earned a sixth-place finish and had a time of 49.63.
Jai Reed competed in the 100 meter dash and earned 10th (12.65). McHenry wasn't far behind in 13th (12.98) and Pandazis was 14th (13.02). Preece finished first for the Mastodons for the 200 meter dash in 12th place with a time of 25.65. Kirkwood (19th, 26.04), Pierre-Louis (21st, 26.19), Clark (22nd, 26.47), Pandazis (29th, 27.04), Lanning (30th, 27.09), McHenry (31st, 27.67) and Wilder (36th, 29.61) rounded out the Mastodons' appearances in the 200. The 4x400 meter relay team, made up of Preece, Lanning, Clark and Pierre-Louis clocked in at 4:08.88 and finished in fifth. The second squad of Kirkwood, Brayden Langdon, Makaila Groves and Wilder, finished with a time of 4:21.91 and placed 10th.
Maddi Hardin was the only Purdue Fort Wayne representative in the discus and threw to a mark of 30.77m, taking 13th.
Up next for Purdue Fort Wayne is the Indiana Tech Home Meet at Warrior Park on Saturday (April 10). Competition will begin at 1 p.m. with the men's long jump, men's high jump, women's shot put, men's hammer throw and women's 4 x 100 meter relay.
