Hudson-Turpin Breaks School Record to Lead 'Dons at Warrior Opener

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - Freshman Jesseca Hudson-Turpin set a school record in the 100 meter hurdles for the Purdue Fort Wayne track and field team at the Warrior Open on Saturday (April 10).
Hudson-Turpin recorded a time of 14.33 in the 100 meter hurdles, breaking the school record by .33 seconds and placed second overall. Sophia Buck earned 13th and finished with a time of 15.85.
In the 100 meter dash, Haley Pandazis placed 21st with a time of 13.06. Kathy Potter clocked in a time of 5:00.04 and finished in seventh in the 1500 meter run. Gianna Stanich finished in fifth place and had a time of 2:22.47 and Brayden Langdon was in 13th with a time of 2:28.95 in the 800 meter run. Lauren Morales finished in 25th (2:33.25), Kirsten Macintyre was 35th (2:41.21) and Sarah Majewski placed 45th (2:48.16), rounding out for the Mastodons.
Mallory Clements ran her way to a time of 18:51.50 (fourth) and Kiannah Sarver clocked in at 19:10.75 (seventh) in the 5000 meter run. In the "B" section of the 5000 meter run, Mercedes Sarver claimed ninth (21:01.90) and Michaela Sheets was in 15th (22:51.42).
Abbigail Garwood threw to a mark of 11.03m in the shot put and finished in 11th. Maddi Hardin was the other Purdue Fort Wayne representative in the shot put and recorded a 10.12m performance, placing in 20th. Garwood also competed in the javelin and placed fourth overall with a mark of 31.20m. Ramey Wilder was 10th (25.00m) and Buck was 14th (18.34m). Miranda Haney tied for fourth in the high jump and had a mark of 1.51m. Allyssa Hennessey had a mark of 1.46m (11th) and Kelsey Shatava jumped 1.46m (17th).
On Friday (April 9), Garwood competed in the hammer throw and had a mark of 30.68m, earning 23rd. Hardin was in the discus event on Friday and claimed the 11th spot with a mark of 28.66m.
Purdue Fort Wayne will head to Terre Haute, Indiana on Thursday (April 15) for the Gibson Invitational at Indiana State. The meet will last April 15-17 and will begin on Thursday at 10 a.m. with the first portion of the men's decathlon.
