Kirkwood Leads 'Dons on Day One of Gibson Invitational

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - Sophomore Dylan Kirkwood leads the Purdue Fort Wayne women's track and field team in the heptathlon with 2,852 points and ranks in fifth place after the first day of the Gibson Invitational at Indiana State. Sophia Buck is currently in 16th with 2,258 and Ramey Wilder is in 19th with 2,078 points.
Kirkwood finished the 100 meter hurdles in second place and clocked in a time of 14.56, earning herself 901 points. Buck came in 13th (15.78) and Wilder was in 19th (17.19).
In the high jump portion of the heptathlon, Kirkwood had a mark of 1.55m and tied for eighth place. Wilder tied for 14th with a mark of 1.43m and Buck jumped to a mark of 1.37m and came in 19th.
Buck led for Purdue Fort Wayne in shot put and threw to 9.29m, coming in at 12th. Kirkwood was not far behind in 15th (8.95m) and Wilder was next in 16th (8.72m).
Rounding out day one was the 200 meter dash. Kirkwood recorded a time of 25.83, finishing in fifth. Sophia Buck clocked in at 29.02 (18th) and Wilder finished in 29.56 (19th).
Day two of competition at the Gibson Track and Field Complex at Indiana State will begin at 10 a.m. on Friday (April 16) with the 110 meter hurdles in the men's decathlon.
