Series Opener Goes To Wright State

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - Alex Evenson, Robert Young III and Trenton Stoner each had a pair of hits in Purdue Fort Wayne's 9-1 loss to Wright State on Friday (April 30) afternoon in a Horizon League baseball contest.
Evenson had two singles and scored a run in the eighth inning. Brooks Sailors knocked Evenson in on the play in the eighth for Sailors' first career RBI. Young also had two singles and a walk. The Mastodons had four walks in the game with Jack Lang earning two of them.
The Mastodon offense recorded eight hits on the day and earned base runners in eight of nine innings.
Jake Schrand moved to 4-4 on the season with a 6.0 inning outing for the Raiders as he picked up the win. Gerald Pintarich falls to 1-4 on the season. He went 7.0 innings, walking just one batter in the game. It is the second time in three weeks Pintarich has gone 7.0 or more innings in his start.
Wright State scored single runs in the first, fifth, sixth and ninth innings. They had two runs in the second and three in the eighth.
Wright State improves to 19-10 (18-3 Horizon). Purdue Fort Wayne falls to 9-22 (6-15 Horizon). The two teams will play a doubleheader on Saturday (May 1) at 1 p.m. at the World Baseball Academy.
