Game One – Oakland 6, Purdue Fort Wayne 5 (scheduled seven-inning game)
The 'Dons were undone by a four-run sixth inning by Oakland. It turned a 5-2 Mastodon lead into a one-run advantage for the Golden Grizzlies. The first four runs of the game scored on home runs. Cam Post hit a two-run home run in the first inning and then Michael Stygle hit a two-run home run in the sixth to make it a 5-4 game. The Golden Grizzlies tied the game on a single by Josh Dudden. They took the lead when Drew Collins motored around from second on an error later in the sixth.
Alex Evenson hit a solo home run for the 'Dons in the second and Garett Lake added his own solo shot in the third. It was Evenson's first home run of the season while Lake finishes with seven home runs. Lake is the first Mastodon with seven home runs in a season since Robert Young III knocked seven in 2018.
The 'Dons scored three in the fourth to go up 5-2. Justin Greene, Dylan Stewart and Zac Baden each had an RBI in the fourth.
Jacob Myer started for the 'Dons and looked strong until the sixth. He took the loss and finishes his season 3-7. He allowed five earned runs in 5.1 innings with four strikeouts.
Hayden Nierman threw the final 3.2 innings to get the win for the Golden Grizzlies. He is 4-6.
The 'Dons made Nierman work for final out, however, as they loaded the bases with two outs in the seventh. But a groundout by Trenton Stoner ended the contest.
