4x400 Meter Relay Squad Takes Second on Last Day of Championships

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - The 2021 Horizon League Outdoor Track and Field Championships concluded on Sunday (May 9) and the Purdue Fort Wayne women's track and field team ran their way to second place in the 4x400 meter relay, taking a spot on the podium.
Rachel Pierre-Louis, Jesseca Hudson-Turpin, Maya Preece and Katie Clark made their way in the 4x400 meter relay to a time of 3:53.60.
They helped the Mastodons take sixth place as a team with 47 points. The 'Dons topped Cleveland State, IUPUI, Detroit Mercy, Wright State and UIC. Youngstown State was the overall team winner with 233.5 points.
Preece also competed in the 400 meter dash finals and clocked in at 57.36 and placed sixth overall. Makaila Groves represented the 'Dons in the 800 meter run finals and came in seventh with a time of 2:16.46. Freshman Madison King recorded a time of 17:28.90 in the 5000 meter run and finished in sixth. Kathy Potter finished in 23rd (18:42.29) and Kiannah Sarver placed 28th (19:01.75).
In the high jump, Miranda Haney jumped to 1.62m and claimed the fifth place spot. Dylan Kirkwood reached a height of 1.59m, finishing in seventh and Kelsey Shatava had a mark of 1.49m and earned 15th place.
The meet concludes the 2021 outdoor season for the 'Dons. Purdue Fort Wayne set school records four different times during the 2021 outdoor season.
