Guyan Golf and Country Club
The course at Guyan Golf and Country Club is a masterpiece for those that play it and those that tour it. Nestled in a river valley in the eastern side of Huntington, West Virginia, the course and the challenge it provides have always been a centerpiece or our region. The golf course architect at Guyan Golf and Country Club was Mr. Herbert Strong. One of the most sought-after course designers of the 1920's – Strong was often referred to as "well known" or "internationally famous" Herbert Strong. Mr. Herbert Strong completed the golf course in 1922 on the land formerly known as the Ensign Farm. Strong also built courses at Saucon Valley, Canterbury, Army-Navy in Arlington, Fort Pierce in Florida, and Murray Bay in Canada. Guyan has been the site of numerous golf tournaments throughout the years, including the Marshall Invitational, U.S. Amateur and U.S. Open Qualifiers, the Women's Western Amateur, the West Virginia Amateur & Open Championships, the West Virginia Women's Amateur, the West Virginia Senior Amateur, the West Virginia Junior Amateur, the Virginias-Carolinas Team Matches, and the USGA Girl's Junior Amateur.
Mastodon Lineup
Kasey Lilly, Tyler Green, Brett Seward, Luke Miller and Hunter Mefford will compete for the Mastodons' team score. Reece Compton will compete as an individual.
Down the Fairway
In Tyler Green's first tournament at Purdue Fort Wayne, he shot 211, with an average of 70.33 in each round. While he does not qualify for the career or season minimums yet, this would be the best in program history.
All Fore the Best
Kasey Lilly has finished in the top-10 five times in his career, including three in his shortened sophomore season. The junior finished as the runner-up at the Horizon League Championship in the spring of 2021, marking his second top-five finish. In the first tournament of this season, Lilly finished sixth at the EKU Fall Intercollegiate.
He's Pretty Tee-rific
After two-plus seasons with the 'Dons, Kasey Lilly holds the Purdue Fort Wayne program record for career scoring average with a 73.18 mark. He is also the leader in win/loss percentage with a .780 winning percentage. Last season, Lilly shot a program best 72.6 average in 14 rounds. Through three rounds in his junior season, Lilly has a 69.33 18-hole average.
At His Best
Kasey Lilly is already in mid-season form in his junior season. In his first tournament action of the year, he broke the program's 54-hole record with a 208 at the EKU Fall Intercollegiate. This broke the previous record of 210 that was held by Zach Schroeder.
Last Time Out
The Mastodons finished seventh at the EKU Fall Intercollegiate thanks to Kasey Lilly's 54-hole record performance of 208.
Next Time Up
The 'Dons will take the course again just three days after completing the Joe Feaganes Marshall Invitational at the Earl Yestingmeier Invitational, Ball State's tournament.
