Mastodon Men's Golf Plays in EKU Intercollegiate This Week

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The Purdue Fort Wayne men's golf team is back in action on Friday, September 3, when the Mastodons compete in Eastern Kentucky's EKU Fall Intercollegiate.

The University Club at Arlington
The estate referred to as Arlington was donated in 1967 by W. Arnold Hanger in honor of this parents, Col. And Mrs. Harry B. Hanger. In addition to the 15-acre bequest to EKU, 166 acres of farmland were also purchased by the Eastern Kentucky University Foundation. Robert R. Martin, who was President of EKU at that time, accepted the gift from Mr. Hanger and in a few short years, the Arlington estate was restored and transformed into what is now The University Club at Arlington. The University Club at Arlington comprises an 18-hole championship course, an Olympic-size swimming and diving complex, six lighted tennis courts, multiple event venues, state-of-the-art golf practice facility, and various dining facilities. The club also serves as home to the EKU Men's and Women's golf teams and the EKU Professional Golf Management Program. Additionally, The University Club at Arlington is a venue for many University conferences and events. Built in the 1800s, the Arlington Estate has withstood the test of time and retained her fine character and charm. The University Club at Arlington continues a rich tradition of Southern hospitality and the standard of excellence embodied by Eastern Kentucky University. The University Club is a place where you feel welcomed, where members come together and life-long friendships and formed. A place where you can build lasting memories and start family traditions.
Mastodon Lineup
Kasey Lilly, Tyler Green, Brett Seward, Luke Miller and Jadden Ousley will be competing in the Mastodons' first event of the year. There will be no individuals competing for the 'Dons at EKU.
Putter Late Than Never
Tyler Green and Brett Seward are fresh faces to the Mastodon starting lineup, both graduate transfers. Green, a Columbia City native, played four seasons at Ball State after originally committing to Purdue. He led a Ball State squad that was ranked 165th in the Golfstat team rankings. Seward was a four-year golfer at Valparaiso before joining the Purdue Fort Wayne squad. He fired a season average of 74.61 in his final season with the Crusaders (Beacons), which included a second-place finish at the Lewis Flyer Intercollegiate (+4, 220).
All Fore the Best
Kasey Lilly has finished in the top-10 four times in his career, including three in his shortened sophomore season. The junior finished as the runner-up at the Horizon League Championship in the spring of 2021, marking his second top-five finish.
He's Pretty Tee-rific
After two seasons with the 'Dons, Kasey Lilly holds the Purdue Fort Wayne program record for career scoring average with a 73.55 mark. He is also the leader in win/loss percentage with a .760 winning percentage. Last season, Lilly shot a program best 72.6 average in 14 rounds.
Last Time Out
The Mastodons finished fourth at the Horizon League Championship in April, out-performing their preseason poll ranking of sixth. Kasey Lilly finished the tournament with an even 216 to claim runner-up.
Next Time Up
Purdue Fort Wayne will travel to Huntington, West Virginia to compete in the Joe Feaganes Marshall Invitational on September 13-14.
