Kasey Lilly and Tyler Green Lead 'Dons on First Day of EKU Intercollegiate

RICHMOND, Ky. - Kasey Lilly and Tyler Green of the Purdue Fort Wayne men's golf team led the Mastodons with a pair of 141's (+1) on the opening day of the EKU Intercollegiate.
Purdue Fort Wayne is four shots ahead of the only other Horizon League team in the field: Northern Kentucky.
Lilly opened his day with a 72 (+2) before carding a 69 (-1) on the second 18. In his first round, he saw birdie putts drop on holes four and eight, both mid-range par 4's. He also made a birdie on the 377-yard 10th hole before finishing his round with a pair of pars. In round two, he started with birdies on 13 and 14. He carded another birdie on the par-3 seventh hole. He finished his round with a birdie on the 556-yard 12th. With 18 holes to play, Lilly is in a tie for 15th with his teammate Green.
In his first action as a Mastodon, Green had an even 70 and a 1-over 71. In round one, the Ball State transfer birdied four holes in his opening 18: three, five, 10 and 15. After completing his first round, he parred the first four holes of his second. Green had a bogey-free front nine on his second go-around, with a birdie on the par-4 first and eight straight pars. He also finished his day with a birdie on 12.
Brett Seward, also in his first tournament with the 'Dons, found three birdies in a row on the front nine. His 33 on the front paced him for a 72 (+2) in his first round and a 74 in his second. Seward's second round was highlighted by birdies on holes one, six and 18. He is in a tie for 49th place.
With a birdie on 18 and 13 pars in his opening round, Jadden Ousley shot a 73-79-152. In round two, he turned in a birdie on the par-5 12th to go along with nine pars. His first round of 73 was a career-best.
Luke Miller rounded out the 'Dons' lineup with a 75-78-153. In his opening round, he got a birdie to fall on the 453-yard par-4 ninth. After the break, he had two birdies on the front, taking flight on the 379-yard first and 348-yard fourth.
As a team, the Mastodons are in 12th of 16 teams with a score of 287-292-579. Western Carolina is in the lead with a 550 (-10) team score, led by Jake Peacock and Kyle Kushnir. The pair shot 134 (-6) each.
The final round of the EKU Intercollegiate will take place tomorrow, Saturday, September 4 with a 9 a.m. shotgun start.
