Mastodons Take Non-League Game From Michigan-Dearborn

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Purdue Fort Wayne men's basketball team made 18 3-pointers and dished out 25 assists in a 102-59 victory over Michigan-Dearborn on Monday (Jan. 17) evening at the Gates Sports Center.
The Mastodons' 18 3-pointers are the most in a game since they connected on 20 against Siena Heights on Dec. 20, 2018. Purdue Fort Wayne's 25 assists are the most in a contest since recording 27 in the same game against Siena Heights.
Six 'Dons scored in double-digits with Jarvis Walker setting career highs in points with 18 and rebounds with six. He connected on three 3-pointers in the first half to help the 'Dons get out to a big lead. Purdue Fort Wayne took control of the game for good with a 25-0 stretch over seven minutes in the first half. It put the 'Dons up 56-23. The Wolverines went 0-of-12 with five turnovers in the stretch.
Damian Chong Qui totaled 14 points. Deonte Billups made four 3-pointers for 12 points. Jalon Pipkins had 12 points with a pair of impressive first half dunks. RJ Ogom had a career-high 11 points. Johnathan DeJurnett totaled 10 points thanks to four dunks and two free throws.
JoJo Peterson had the best game of his freshman campaign. He tied a career high with nine points while setting career highs with seven rebounds and seven assists.
The 'Dons shot 46.8 percent (36-of-77) from the floor. The Wolverines shot 36.7 percent (22-of-60).
The 'Dons move to 9-8. Purdue Fort Wayne returns to action on Friday (Jan. 21) in a Horizon League game against Robert Morris.
