Mastodons Fall Short in Road Match at Detroit Mercy 2-1

DETROIT – Detroit Mercy scored twice in the final 13 minutes to pick up a 2-1 decision over Purdue Fort Wayne on Wednesday (Oct. 12) evening in Horizon League men's soccer action.
The 'Dons took a 1-0 lead with a penalty kick goal by Seth Mahlmeister in the 50th minute. The Mastodons held on to the one-goal lead as the rain fell down in the Motor City until the 78th minute. That is when the Titans' Tim Allos scored, assisted by Ryan Pierson and Samory Powder. Pierson scored in the 82nd minute to put the Titans up for good.
The Mastodons put together a pair of shots in the 87th minute, but never found the equalizer.
Detroit Mercy had 15 shots to the Mastodons' 12. The Mastodons put five on goal. Adam Hunt made four saves for the 'Dons.
Detroit Mercy improves 3-4-5 (2-1-3 Horizon). The 'Dons fall to 1-8-3 (0-4-2 Horizon). Purdue Fort Wayne is back in action on Saturday, Oct. 22 in a 1 p.m. kick at the Hefner Soccer Complex.
