Green Bay Tops Mastodons in Men’s Soccer Play 3-1

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – Purdue Fort Wayne men's soccer fell 3-1 on Saturday (Oct. 22) in a Horizon League match at the Hefner Soccer Complex.
A mostly even first half changed in the 36th minute. Josh Johansen scored from the right side of the box. The tally was assisted by Tony Maniu.
The same two Phoenix players combined in the 71st minute to put Green Bay up 2-0. Luca Contestabile scored off a free kick in the 80th minute to give Green Bay a 3-0 advantage. The Mastodons put a goal on the board in the 87th minute when Christian Leon found the back of the net.
Both teams recorded nine shots in the contest. The 'Dons held a 5-0 edge in corners.
The 'Dons are back in action on Saturday (Oct. 29) against IUPUI. The game will be played at Grand Park.
Green Bay improves to 6-3-5 (2-2-3 Horizon). The 'Dons fall to 1-9-3 (0-5-2 Horizon).
