Know Your Foe
Green Bay is 16-7, 7-2 Horizon League this season and is coming off a pair of wins over Cleveland State and Milwaukee. The Phoenix swept the Panthers for their fifth 3-0 win in league play. Alexandra Zakutney is the most significant threat on Green Bay's roster, recording 3.29 kills per set. She was named Horizon League Player of the Week on September 14. Calli Gentry is dishing out 10.00 assists per set to lead the team to a .251 hitting clip.
Series History
The Mastodons and Phoenix have played 13 matches dating back to 2001 with the last five coming since the Mastodons joined the Horizon League in 2020. The Mastodons have won two of those five. Green Bay won the first meeting between the two teams this season 3-0.
Coincidence? I Think Not!
Four Mastodons have exactly 11 aces this season: Sidney Schiller, Molly Mirabelli, Taya Haffner and Rachael Crucis. What does this mean? I have no idea but it's definitely something.
That's a lot of Digs!
The Mastodons had a season-high 91 digs in their match at Cleveland State (Oct. 14), recording 23 more than the Vikings in that contest.
Sidney Slammer
Sidney Schiller had 20 kills in the Mastodons' three-set match against Wright State. It was a career-high for Schiller in three-set matches. It was just two shy of her career-high in matches of any length.
Dynamic Defensive Duo
Rachael Crucis and LonDynn Betts had 26 and 20 digs, respectively, in the Mastodons' five-set win at IUPUI. This was the first time since 2018 that two Mastodons had 20 or more digs in a match. They did it again at Cleveland State on October 14, this time Crucis with 27 digs and Betts with 25.
Last Time Out
Purdue Fort Wayne split its last week of the first go-around of league play, topping Cleveland State 3-2 and falling to Oakland 3-0.
Coming Up
Purdue Fort Wayne will return home for a three-match homestand with IUPUI, Youngstown State and Robert Morris.
