Kasey Lilly Records Sixth Top-10 of the Season

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - After an opening round of 1-under 71, Kasey Lilly of the Purdue Fort Wayne men's golf team finished in the top-10 for the sixth time this season. His 71-76-147 was good for sixth at the Sacred Heart Invitational on Saturday (March 12).
Behind Lilly, the Mastodons took third in the nine-team field, which is the third time in as many tournaments in the spring season that the 'Dons have finished in the top-three. The 'Dons shot 303-305-608.
Lilly's opening round featured six birdies and seven pars. On Saturday, the junior turned in 15 pars en route to his 76. Lilly had the best par-3 scoring average in the field, going 2-under for the weekend.
Hunter Mefford was the second-best for the Mastodons, turning in 74-78-152 to tie for 14th. On Friday, Mefford got birdies on holes five, seven, eight, nine and 10 to go with eight pars. In his second round, he had 12 pars.
After an opening round of 80, Tyler Green bounced back with a round of 1-over 73 for a total of 153. He tied for 19th after three birdies in his final round.
Brett Seward shot 78-78-156 to tie for 26th. He finished the tournament with 28 pars, the most in the field. Luke Miller also competed for the team score, shooting 81-86-167 for 57th.
Burke Pitz and Reece Compton competed as individuals, turning in 74-78-152 for 14th and 82-81-163 for 48th, respectively.
Sacred Heart's Marcus Lim won the individual medal with 68-73-141, while leading the host Pioneers to the team title with a score of 288-303-591.
Purdue Fort Wayne will compete again on March 28-29 at the Butler Spring Invitational in Indianapolis.
