Tyler Green Leads Mastodon Men's Golf at Butler Spring Invitational

INDIANAPOLIS - Behind a 3-over round from Tyler Green, the Purdue Fort Wayne men's golf team occupied 10th place in a tightly contested Butler Spring Invitational on Monday (March 28).
Only 21 strokes separate the first-place Valparaiso Beacons (279) and the 12th-place Indianapolis Greyhounds (300). The Mastodons shot 297 in the opening round.
Green had four birdies on Monday, three of which came on par-3 holes. He had the best par-3 average in the field, finishing 3-under on the four par-3s. His fourth birdie came on the 405-yard ninth. Green is in a tie for 25th place with 18 to play after his opening round of 73.
Kasey Lilly started his day with two birdies in his first four holes, the first and fourth. He finished his round with those two birdies to couple with 10 pars en route to a 74. He is in a tie for 38th place.
From the No. 4 spot, Burke Pitz shot a 75. He had 13 pars and nothing worse than a bogey for the day. Brett Seward had a nice start to his day, turning in back-to-back birdies on the sixth and seventh. He was even after 11 holes, then finished at 75. He is tied for 54th with Pitz.
Hunter Mefford recorded a 76, which came by way of 10 pars and a birdie on hole six. He is in a tie for 67th place.
Reece Compton (75, T54th) Luke Miller (77, T74th), Jadden Ousley (77, T74th), and Corey Ryan (81, T94th) played as individuals.
The final round of the Butler Spring Invitational will be played on Tuesday (March 29), with a start time to be determined based on the playing conditions of the course.
