Hale Strings Together Three Hits in Purdue Fort Wayne's Loss at Green Bay

GREEN BAY, Wis. - Despite three hits from Alise Hale, the Purdue Fort Wayne softball team dropped their final game at Green Bay 10-5 on Friday (March 25).
Shaina Eyre (1-7) got the ball to start for Purdue Fort Wayne (4-19, 3-5) and took the loss. Alyson Quinlan came out of the bullpen and threw five innings with a career-high seven strikeouts.
Hale's three hits included a triple and an RBI to lead the Mastodons. Taryn Jenkins went 1-for-2 with a double, a walk and an RBI. Brooke Wintlend also registered one of the team's two doubles.
Green Bay jumped out to an 8-0 lead before the Mastodons first put runs on the board in the fourth inning. Purdue Fort Wayne managed to push across two runs in the inning, the first on a fielding error, the second on a sacrifice fly.
The Mastodons kept the Phoenix off the board before narrowing the gap further in the fifth. Wintlend came across to score the lone run of the inning for Purdue Fort Wayne, which tightened the Phoenix lead to 8-3.
Green Bay expanded their lead to 10-3 before the Purdue Fort Wayne offense got going again, reducing that lead to 10-5 in the seventh. The Mastodons notched two runs in the frame, punctuated with an RBI triple off the bat of Hale.
