Katie Clark Wins 400-Meter Dash on Final Day of League Meet

ROCHESTER, Mich. – Purdue Fort Wayne women's track & field student-athlete Katie Clark won the 400-meter dash during the third and final day of the 2022 Horizon League Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Sunday, May 8.
Clark is the first Mastodon to win a Horizon League individual championship. She is the first Mastodon to win an individual championship at a conference meet since Crystina Ridenour won the 10,000 meters in 2010 at the Summit League Outdoor Championships. Clark also finished seventh in the 200-meter dash and scored two team points
The Mastodons finished the weekend in fourth place out of 11 teams with 64 points. It is a two-spot improvement from last year when the 'Dons were sixth.
Youngstown State won the Horizon League women's title with 252 points.
The 'Dons had several other student-athletes record points on Sunday.
Jesseca Hudson-Turpin (14.16 seconds) and Jordan Yanders (14.24 seconds) finished second and third in the 100-meter hurdles, combining for 14 points. Miranda Haney placed sixth in the high jump (1.59 meters, three points). Dylan Kirkwood was sixth in the 400-meter hurdles (1:03.74, three points).
The 4 by 400-meter relay team of Sophia Buck, Jesseca Hudson-Turpin, Katie Clark, and Dylan Kirkwood finished third (3:54.75, six points)
