Lillian Hurd Breaks Two School Records at GVSU's Big Meet

ALLENDALE, Mich. - The Purdue Fort Wayne men's track and field program completed day one of GVSU's Big Meet on Friday (Feb. 13), highlighted by Lillian Hurd's record breaking performances.
Hurd is up to five broken school records on the season, breaking two today that she previously held. She began with the 400 meter dash, running a time of 54.61, and returned to the track to break the 200 meter dash school record in 24.11. Both times sit at first in the Horizon League.
The sophomore was also part of the 4x400 relay squad, including Sanayah Ruffin, Amelie Mach, Lena James and Hurd, that broke their own school record. The relay team finished in a time of 3:45.54 for first in league competition.
The Mastodon throwers also showed out on the first day of the meet. Ali Sparks threw the HL's second best weight throw mark of the year (17.88m) and a shot put toss (13.47m) that would sit fifth, but she already holds second. Emery Carrico threw a personal record 13.86 meters in shot put, good for third best in Horizon League standings. Francesca Carlo threw a personal record 15.91 meters in weight throw, fifth best in the league. Ellie Zagel had a personal record toss of 13.29 meters, also good for fifth in the HL.
Bella Hodges ran the Horizon League's second fastest 800 meters time at GVSU, finishing in 2:14.11. Mach ran a personal record time in the event, finishing in 2:20.85.
Ava Genovese ran a mile time of 4:58.93, the league's third best time of the year. Faith Norris ran a personal record 5:15.02 in the event.
Faith Allen (18:03.41) and Amanda Williams (18:51.57) ran personal record times in the 5000 meters. Nori Silva (19:01.06) and Violet Fransico (19:40.05) completed their first collegiate 5000 meters at the Big Meet.
James ran a personal record 58.07 400 meter dash at the meet.
Bethany Lockridge (1:44.03) and Diana Hodges (1:44.65) completed their first collegiate 600 meters at GVSU.
The 'Dons returning for the second day of competition at the Big Meet are: Allen (3000m), Kynzlei Bassett (Mile), Carrico (SP), Makenna Dommer (WT), Francisco (Mile), Genovese (800m, Mile), Haylee Hile (Mile, 3000m), Bella Hodges (800m), Diana Hodges (800m), Lockridge (800m), Mach (800m), Ava McAlexander (60mH, LJ, SP), Ava Milligan (Mile), Norris (800m, Mile), Kaymin Phillips (60mH), Kaylee Rogaczewski (TJ), Silva (Mile), Riley Tate (Mile), Scout Warner (HJ), Amanda Williams (Mile), Martia Williams (LJ, TJ) and Zagel (SP, WT).
