Western Michigan Takes Party at the Pitch Contest
9/14/2022 10:38:00 PM | Men's Soccer
FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The third annual Party at the Pitch saw one of the largest crowds of the season come out to the Hefner Soccer Complex on Wednesday (Sept. 14) evening. Mastodon supporters had their appetites satisfied by the food trucks on the walkway, but their thirst for a Mastodon win went unquenched as Western Michigan defeated the Mastodons 3-0.
Western Michigan took a 2-0 lead to halftime with a pair of goals in the first half. Dylan Sing scored his fourth goal of the year in the 16th minute, assisted by Matt Lockwood. Landon Fisher scored in the 40th minute.
Western Michigan rounded out the scoring in the 70th minute. A clearing attempt by the 'Dons in the box went right to Charlie Sharp who found the back of the net.
Nathaniel Edwards and Keith Larson each had a shot on goal for the 'Dons.
Adam Hunt had eight saves, including a diving play in the first half.
Western Michigan, who owns wins over Northwestern, Michigan State and Wisconsin this season, moves to 4-1-0. The 'Dons fall to 1-3-2. Purdue Fort Wayne returns to league play on Saturday at Northern Kentucky.
