Road League Opener Goes to the Norse

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - Northern Kentucky defeated Purdue Fort Wayne 3-0 in a Horizon League men's soccer contest on Saturday (Sept. 17) evening.
The Norse scored a pair of goals in the first half. Both goals came off long passes played from beyond the midfield stripe. Deryn Armstrong had a goal in the 22nd minute assisted by Ryan Godding. Then in the 44th minute, Brodie Sallows scored off a pass from Christian Sjølander.
Northern Kentucky's Ben Hegge scored off a corner kick in the 76th minute to round out the scoring.
Nathaniel Edwards finished with a pair of shots for the 'Dons. Luke Benford hit the post for the 'Dons in the first half.
The Norse improve to 3-4-0 (1-1-0 Horizon League). The 'Dons fall to 1-4-2 (0-1-1 Horizon League). The Mastodons jump back into non-league play on Tuesday with a contest at Bellarmine.
