Not The Mastodons’ Day in Loss to Knights

LOUISVILLE – Bellarmine netted two goals in the second half to defeat Purdue Fort Wayne 2-0 on Tuesday (Sept. 20) afternoon in non-league men's soccer action.
Neither team scored in the first 45 minutes. Logan Lee, Alex Frank and Nathaniel Edwards registered shots for the Mastodons in the half. A corner kick in the 40th minute netted a nice chance for the 'Dons.
Bellarmine went up 1-0 on a score by Chirs Shust in the 59th minute.
The Mastodons had a pair of nice opportunities in the 75th minute. First it was a corner kick and that helped set up a free kick opportunity. Marc Rodriguez took the kick but his shot was saved by a diving Alex Lindewirth in goal for Bellarmine.
A penalty kick in the 76th minute sealed the game for Bellarmine.
Bellarmine improves to 3-3-1. The 'Dons fall to 1-5-2. Purdue Fort Wayne is back in action on Saturday (Sept. 24) for a Horizon League game at Robert Morris.
