2023 Mastodon Baseball Schedule Announced

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – Purdue Fort Wayne head coach Doug Schreiber has announced the 2023 Mastodon baseball schedule.
The Mastodons will play 18 non-league games before opening Horizon League play March 17-19 at Wright State. The early season slate features road trips to Alabama State (Feb. 17-19), Bethune-Cookman (Feb. 24-26) and Austin Peay (March 10-12). The 'Dons will head to North Carolina March 3-5 to face Wake Forest, Cornell and Ball State. Wake Forest was an NCAA Tournament team in 2022.
The non-league schedule also features trips to Big Ten foes Indiana (March 8) and Michigan State (April 19). The 'Dons earned a win over eventual Big Ten Champion Michigan last season.
The 'Dons will play 19 games at home in 2023. Horizon League contests feature Northern Kentucky (March 24-26), Milwaukee (April 14-16), Wright State (April 21-23), Youngstown State (May 5-7) and Oakland (May 12-14). Bowling Green (March 28), Toledo (April 4), Valparaiso (April 11) and Dayton (April 26) make up the Mastodon home non-league games.
The Horizon League Championship is set for May 24-27.
The 2023 Mastodons bring back several key players from last season's squad. Cade Fitzpatrick was an All-Horizon League Second Team pick after hitting .321 and slugging .543. Rex Stills was an All-Freshman Team pick last season with a 3.24 ERA in 17 appearances. Ben Higgins hit .368 in league play and slugged .660.
