Mastodons Fall in Road match at Northern Kentucky

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – Purdue Fort Wayne outshot Northern Kentucky 16-13 on Saturday (Oct. 28) afternoon, but the Norse scored a goal in each half to defeat the Mastodons 2-0.
Northern Kentucky first scored in the 15th minute when a long pass traveled beyond the Mastodons' defense and Jason Purks finished the score for the Norse. In the second half, they would score again in the 59th minute with two passes leading to a goal for Simon Knuewe.
Seth Mahlmeister had the most chances for Purdue Fort Wayne with two of his five shots being on goal, but eight different Mastodons registered a shot attempt. Purdue Fort Wayne led in shots on goal 5-3 but was unable to convert on any of the chances.
Danny Salazar stopped one of three shots on goal for the Mastodons while Nic Lemen stopped all five shots on goal.
The Mastodons fall to 6-5-3 and 3-3-2 in Horizon League play. Northern Kentucky improves to 4-9-3 and is also now 3-5-0 in league play. The 'Dons close out the regular season on Wednesday when they host rival IUPUI at Hefner Soccer Complex.
