Mastodons Defeat Andrews in 2023-24 Home Opener

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - Purdue Fort Wayne set program records in points, field goals, and steals on Thursday (Nov. 9) night as the Mastodons defeated Andrews 130-34 at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum.
The 'Dons started the game on a 9-0 run that was capped off by an emphatic dunk from Anthony Roberts. This run ballooned to 27-8 when Corey Hadnot II threw down a dunk of his own. Three 'Dons finished the first half in double figures as Jalen Jackson led the team with 18 and Anthony Roberts and Rasheed Bello added 17 and 14, respectively.
The Mastodons took a 68-25 lead into halftime. Purdue Fort Wayne went on a 28-5 run in the second half to open up a 41-point lead. The 'Dons hit the century mark on a 3-pointer from Keaton Dukes.
The 'Dons finished with a school record 23 steals, shattering the previous record of 17. Quinton Morton-Robertson led the way with six steals which ties him for the fourth-most steals in a game in school history. The 'Dons also snagged 53 rebounds, including 41 on the defensive end, to total the school's fifth-best rebound total.
Eight Mastodons finished in double-figures: Jalen Jackson (21), Bello (17), Roberts (17), Maximus Nelson (15), Hadnot II (12), Johnathan DeJurnett (12), Eric Mulder (10), and Khoi Thurmon (10). The 'Dons shared the ball well and finished with 30 assists, the third-highest single-game total in program history.
130 points for the Mastodons is the most in program history as is their 53 field goals. Purdue Fort Wayne's 96-point win is the largest margin of victory in program history. It tops the 80-point margin the 'Dons won by on Nov. 14, 2022 against Manchester (111-31).
