WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Braedon Blackford went 3-for-4 with two home runs, five runs knocked in and a walk in Purdue Fort Wayne's 13-9 loss to Ball State on Sunday (March 5).

Jacob Walker also had three hits for the Mastodons. Ben Higgins and Eli Tencza recorded two hits.

The 'Dons went up 2-0 in the first on a two-run shot by Blackford. He had an RBI single in the fifth to make it a 5-3 game in favor of Ball State. Higgins knocked in a run on a single later in the frame to make it 5-4.

Down 6-4 in the seventh, Blackford tied it with a two-run home run to score Walker. Ball State took the lead back with three in the seventh but the 'Dons tied it with three of their own in the eighth. Tencza knocked in two with a single and then came around as the tying run in the eighth.

Ball State put the game away in the bottom of the eighth with four runs. Hunter Dobbins hit a two-run home run for the Cardinals in the frame.

Brendan Reid (1-1) took the loss. Ty Weatherly is also 1-1 after picking up the win for Ball State.

Ball State improves to 7-5 while the 'Dons fall to 2-10. Purdue Fort Wayne is next in action on Wednesday at Indiana.
