Track and Field Gears up For The Gibson Invitational

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – Purdue Fort Wayne men's and women's track and field will be staying in state to compete in the Gibson Invitational, hosted by Indiana State University.

Start Times: Thursday (10:00 a.m.), Friday (9:30 a.m.), Saturday (11:00 a.m.)

About The Schedule:
- Thursday is the first day of the heptathlon and decathlon with Sophia Buck, Dylan Konieczny and Ramey Wilder in action in the hep. Logan Alexander, Brejion Peters and Jacob Schatzle are competing in the dec.
- Friday will be day two of the heptathlon and decathlon. The hammer, javelin and 5,000 meters will also be held on Friday. The 'Dons do not have an entry in the 5,000 meters this week.
- Saturday will be a full meet schedule.
- This will be the second time at Indiana State this season for many Mastodons. A meet at Indiana State was added earlier in the year when Illinois State's Redbird Challenge was rained out.

A Few Things To Know
- Freshman Marissa Van De Weg holds the top mark in the 400 with a time of 1:04.50. Another freshman, Ali Sparks, holds the top mark in shot put (12.58m) and discus (37.89m) for the 'Dons this season. Van De Weg will run the 400 this week at Indiana State. Sparks will compete in the shot put and hammer.
- Jai Reed will run in the 100 and 200 this week. It will be her first time running the 200 outdoors this season.
- Jarred Neff set a school record in the 3000 meter steeplechase with a time of 9:41.72 at the Tennessee Invitation on Saturday (April 8). He will not be competing this week.
- Owen Kaufman will compete in three events this week (shot put, discus and hammer).
- John Jackman has the Mastodons' best time in the 100 meters this year (10.98). He'll look to improve on it this week at Indiana State.
