
Wintlend and Jenkins Selected to CSC Academic All-District Softball Team

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – Purdue Fort Wayne softball's Brooke Wintlend and Taryn Jenkins were named to the 2023 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team, the organization announced on Tuesday (May 16).
The 2023 Academic All-District® Softball Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the diamond and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes baseball and softball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA. Academic All-District honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America ballot. To qualify, all nominees must have a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or higher and be a starter or important reserve.
Wintlend (Roscoe, Ill. / Hononegah HS / Green Bay) played in 29 games for the 'Dons with 23 starts at first base. She had a pair of hits including a double with a run vs. St. Thomas (Feb. 25). She was on base three times and drove in two runs vs. Butler (March 13). She has a 4.00 GPA in the accounting program.
Jenkins (Aldergrove, B.C. / DW Poppy Secondary / McCook CC) led the Horizon League in hitting at .387 while ranking second in slugging (.619) and OPS (1.060). She was third in the league in stolen bases (21). She was named to the All-Horizon League First Team. She started 49 games at second base. Jenkins had a 3.73 GPA while majoring in criminal justice.
Both Wintlend and Jenkins were named to the Horizon League All-Academic Team this season.
