INDIANAPOLIS – Purdue Fort Wayne's Ben Higgins (Macomb, Ill. / Macomb HS / Carl Sandburg CC) has been named the 2023 Valeo Horizon League Baseball All-Academic Team.
Higgins, an economics major, owns a 3.70 GPA. This is his second academic award this week after recently earning a spot on the 2023 College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team. Higgins ranks sixth in the Horizon League in home runs (10) and eighth in RBIs (43) and ninth in slugging percentage (.511). Earlier this season he was named the Horizon League Hitter of the Week after hitting three home runs in a game vs. Youngstown State. Higgins has played in 44 games with 41 starts in left field. He has 14 multi-hit games this season.
The Horizon League recognizes student-athletes with seasonal Academic All-League Teams in each of its 19 championship sports.
