Know Your Foe: Green Bay's only loss of the season was a 2-0 decision to open the year vs. Memphis and they haven't given up a goal since. The Phoenix enter Saturday's match with a four-match unbeaten streak because of that stout defense. That includes a 0-0 tie at Boston College and a 2-0 league win over Detroit Mercy. They have out-scored their opponents 10-2 this season. Chris Album leads the league with eight points thanks to three goals and two assists.
Series History: The 'Dons lead the all-time series 5-4-3. Every meeting has been since 2002. The clubs met yearly from 2016-19 in non-league play. The 'Dons have played well on the road against the Phoenix, going 2-0-1 since 2016.
League Opener: Saturday's 3-0 win against Milwaukee marked the first time the 'Dons have opened Horizon League play with a win.
A Win And…: A win over Green Bay would be the Mastodons' fourth consecutive positive result. The last time they had four consecutive positive results was a four-match winning streak in 2018.
A Shoutout And…: A shutout against Green Bay would give the 'Dons a third straight shutout for the first time since 2021 when they shutout UIC, Green Bay and IUPUI consecutively.
"I Am Not Throwing Away My Shot": Purdue Fort Wayne is 10th in Division I in shot accuracy with 55.1 percent of their shots being on goal. Seth Mahlmeister leads the team and ranks 34th in the nation with 60.0 percent of shots on goal, which is even more impressive considering he is tied for third in the Horizon League with 3.00 shots per game. Mahlmeister's 1.80 shots on goal per game is tied for the league lead.
Anybody at Anytime: The 'Dons have six goals this season and they have each been scored by a different player. Soshi Fujioka, Seth Mahlmeister, Marco Valencia, Abe Arellano, Christian Leon and Luke Morrell each have found the back of the net.
A Helping Foot: Soshi Fujioka and Juan Romero each have two assists on the season. Those two assists are tied for third in the league for most assists.
More Minutes for Morrell: Luke Morrell remains the only Mastodon to play all 450 minutes of action this season. Morrell scored his first goal of the season in the Mastodons' 2-2 draw with Bellarmine.
Non-League Challenges: The 'Dons opened the regular season with a trip to Wisconsin to play at Wisconsin and Marquette. Both squads have been ranked in the top 25 in the nation this season.
On The Horizon: The 'Dons will have a week to rest up for their next game, hosting Wright State in a Horizon League match on Saturday, Sept. 23 at the Hefner Soccer Complex.
