
Baseball Announces 2024 Schedule

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – Purdue Fort Wayne head coach Doug Schreiber has announced the 2024 Mastodon baseball schedule.
The Mastodons will play 18 non-league games before opening Horizon League play March 15-17 at Youngstown State. The season gets underway with a trip to Murray State (Feb. 16-18). Following opening weekend, the early season slate features road trips to Western Kentucky (Feb. 23-25), Evansville (March 1-3), and Missouri (March 8-10). All three of these trips are four game sets with games on Friday and Sunday with a Saturday doubleheader in between.
The non-league schedule also features midweek trips to Indiana (February 27), Butler (March 5), and Ball State (March 12). Indiana and Ball State each made the NCAA tournament last season. Later in the spring, the 'Dons will make midweek trips to power five opponents Michigan State (March 20) and Notre Dame (April 17). The 'Dons defeated Michigan State last season. Purdue Fort Wayne will play home-and-home with Western Michigan (March 26, April 2) and Bowling Green (April 10, May 8) and host Toledo (April 24) to make up their non-league home schedule.
The 'Dons will play each of the five opposing Horizon League squads six times in 2024. Purdue Fort Wayne hosts Horizon League foes Wright State (March 22-24), Northern Kentucky (April 5-7), Youngstown State (April 19-21), Milwaukee (May 3-5), and Oakland (May 16-18) in three-game weekends, but will also travel to play series against these teams on the road.
The Horizon League Championship is set for May 22-25.
The 2024 Mastodons return All-Horizon League outfielder Ben Higgins after he made 44 starts and ranked second in slugging percentage (.743), third in OPS (1.155) and third in home runs (10) in Horizon League games. On the mound, Mac Ayres returns after leading the 'Dons with 13 starts on the mound and pitching a team-high 64.0 innings.
