No. 14 Ball State Tops Purdue Fort Wayne

MUNCIE, Ind. – The Purdue Fort Wayne men's volleyball team fell on the road at No. 14 Ball State 3-0 (25-19, 26-24, 25-23) on Thursday (Feb. 15) night.
Mark Frazier led the Mastodons with 12 kills. Davey Singer assisted on a career-high 27 kills. Bryce Walker finished the match with 11.5 points on seven kills on a team-best .462 percentage, two aces, and 2.5 blocks.
Ball State hit .481 in the first set, but a balanced attack with contributions from Logan Muir, Casey Lyons, and Frazier kept the 'Dons close. Out of the media timeout, Ball State closed the set on a 10-5 run to take the opening frame.
Walker led the 'Dons with four kills in the second set, but it was Jon Diedrich who recorded two timely kills as Purdue Fort Wayne rallied to tie the score at 24. But the Cardinals regrouped after a timeout and won the next two points to take the set.
The 'Dons hit their match-best percentage of .258 in the third set with Frazier leading the team with six kills. Patrick Rogers had nine kills for BSU and it was the difference in a close third set.
Ball State moves up to 10-7 and 3-1 in the MIVA while Purdue Fort Wayne drops to 7-6 and 1-3 in the MIVA. The 'Dons square off with No. 8 Ohio State on Tuesday (Feb. 20) in Columbus.
