Mastodon WBB Blows Out Milwaukee 75-55

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - Purdue Fort Wayne never trailed after the second possession of the game on Thursday (Feb. 15), as the Mastodons trounced Milwaukee 75-55 in the Gates Sports Center.
The Mastodons picked up their 16th win, the most for the program in a season since 2010-11.
Thursday night was the Shayla Sellers show. She was 7-of-11 from the floor and 6-of-8 from beyond the 3-point line, tying her career-best of six 3-pointers. She added three rebounds, two steals and an assist. While Sellers was the star, several Mastodon pitched in big performances. Jazzlyn Linbo had 11 points and five boards, Amellia Bromenschenkel had nine points, Audra Emmerson had eight points, Destinee Marshall had seven points and a season-high six assists, Renna Schwieterman recorded nine points, six rebounds and a season-high five steals and Sydney Graber scored seven points.
Milwaukee is the third Horizon League team the 'Dons have beaten by 20 or more this season. The 'Dons beat Oakland by 20 and Robert Morris by 28.
The Mastodons had their best 3-point shooting performance as a team since November. The 'Dons poured in 12 triples on 26 shots for 46.2 percent. This is the 10th time the Mastodons have hit 10 3-pointers or more in a game this season. They were even better inside the arc, shooting 50 percent.
Purdue Fort Wayne was up six at the halftime break, but came out on fire in the third quarter. The 'Dons blitzed Milwaukee with a 14-5 rush out of the locker room. In this stretch, The 'Dons were 4-for-4 from the floor with three triples while holding Milwaukee to 2-for-5. Emmerson hit a triple and Sellers hit two, then Linbo converted an old-fashioned 3-point play. This momentum carried into the fourth quarter, when the Mastodons hit 4-of-8 from beyond the arc and only needed to take three 2-point shots.
The Mastodons were 15-of-20 from the charity stripe. The 'Dons also forced Milwaukee into 17 turnovers, in which the 'Dons scored 17 points.
Milwaukee got 16 points out of Angie Cera.
Purdue Fort Wayne improves to 16-10 and 9-6 in the Horizon League. Milwaukee falls to 14-13, 8-8. The Mastodons will be back in action on Sunday (Feb. 18) when they play host to Detroit Mercy at 2 p.m.
