Purdue Fort Wayne Falls to No. 13 Loyola Chicago

CHICAGO - The Purdue Fort Wayne men's volleyball team fell to No. 13 Loyola Chicago on Thursday (Feb. 29) 25-23, 25-15, 25-21.
Axel Melendez Watts had a career-high nine digs, helping the Mastodons hold MIVA Player of the Year candidate Parker Van Buren to .077 hitting.
Despite their best player being limited offensively, the Ramblers hit .341 as a team. This included a .565 opening frame.
Mark Frazier was the best offensive option for the Mastodons. He finished with 11 kills on .292 hitting. He had four kills on six attempts in set one. Kaden Fosdick had four kills on eight attempts for the match, with two kills on two swings in the first set.
The Mastodons held close in set one and even led 21-20 after an ace from Frazier. After LUC had three points, the 'Dons got a kill from Jon Diedrich to tie it back at 23, but the Ramblers took the final two points. The rest of the night was all Ramblers.
Loyola was led by Daniel Fabikovic's 18 kills.
Purdue Fort Wayne falls to 9-8, 3-5 in the MIVA. The Ramblers improve to 10-8, 5-3. The Mastodons are back in action on Saturday (March 2) when they visit No. 14 Lewis.
