No. 14 Lewis Takes Four-Set Match From 'Dons

ROMEOVILLE, Ill. - The Purdue Fort Wayne men's volleyball team dropped a MIVA match to No. 14 Lewis on Saturday (March 2) 25-15, 25-21, 19-25, 25-20.
Mark Frazier led the 'Dons with 18 kills on 36 attempts, six digs and two aces. Jon Diedrich added seven kills with six digs and two aces.
Lewis' Daniel Haber led all hitters with 19 kills on 30 attempts, hitting .567. Max Roquet finished with 18 kills and seven digs.
The Mastodons started set one stride for stride with the Flyers with a 10-10 start. The 'Dons found themselves trailing at the first timeout, 15-12, despite Frazier's three kills and an ace. The rest of the set was all Lewis. The Flyers finished the set hitting .652.
The 'Dons started set two on a 7-4 run, but the Flyers went on a 7-1 run of their own to lead 11-8 at the first timeout. The Mastodons tied the game up at 17-17 with a pair of Kaden Fosdick kills, but Lewis took control of the frame from there.
Purdue Fort Wayne led the entirety of the third set. The 'Dons had a 4-0 run to force a timeout up 7-3. The Mastodons extended their lead to 12-6 with two kills from Carlos Mercado. The 'Dons took the third set 25-19.
Set four was neck and neck, up until 7-7. The Flyers began to pull away, going up 16-13. The 'Dons responded with a 3-0 run capped off by an ace from Diedrich, but Lewis took six of the next eight to build up a comfortable lead.
Purdue Fort Wayne falls to 9-9, 3-6 in the MIVA. The Flyers improves to 10-8, 4-4. The Mastodons are back in action on Friday (March 15) when they host Lindenwood.
