No. 13 Loyola Chicago Takes MIVA Match From No. 20 Mastodons

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The No. 20 Purdue Fort Wayne men's volleyball team fell to No. 13 Loyola Chicago 3-0 (25-22, 25-17, 25-16) on Tuesday (Feb. 6) night on the Arnie Ball Court at the Gates Sports Center.
Jon Diedrich was one of three players in the match with double-digit kills as he led the 'Dons with 11. He hit a very efficient .478. Andrej Polomac assisted on 30 kills and added five digs. Loyola hit their third-best percentage of the season at .449. The 'Dons' matched them in the first set, hitting .455, but couldn't keep pace and finished at .263.
The 'Dons led in set one 17-15 before Loyola went on a 7-1 run to go up 22-18. The Mastodons clawed back to 24-22, but Jake Read for the Ramblers got one of his match-high 16 kills on set point. Diedrich had two of his kills in the 4-2 stretch.
Sets two and three were all Ramblers as they hit .400 and .542 to take the match.
Bryce Walker had five kills on nine attempts and added two blocks. Mark Frazier had a team-high six digs. The 13th-ranked Ramblers improve to 6-6 and 1-1 in the MIVA while the No. 20 Mastodons see their record drop to 6-4 and 0-1 in the MIVA. The 'Dons head to Charlotte for their next matches on Friday (Feb. 9) and Saturday (Feb. 10) against Queens for their first matches as MIVA foes.
