‘Dons Close Regular Season with 20th Victory

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Purdue Fort Wayne men's basketball team closed the 2023-24 regular season with their 20th victory of the season on Saturday (March 2) evening. The Mastodons defeated Robert Morris 83-65.
In a quirk of the postseason bracket, the two teams will meet again on Tuesday (March 5) in the opening round of the 2024 Barbasol Horizon League Championship. The 'Dons are the No. 8 seed and earned the right to host the No. 9 Colonials.
Saturday was Senior Night for the 'Dons. Anthony Roberts finished a night to remember. He had a game-high 18 points on 8-of-12 shooting with seven rebounds and two assists. He had a dunk in the second half that nearly brought the house down.
Rasheed Bello added 14 points and Quinton Morton-Robertson totaled 12. Maximus Nelson drained three 3-pointers to finish with 11 points.
The 'Dons shot 12-of-26 from three and were 7-of-13 in the second half. The 'Dons led 38-32 at the break and pulled away early in the second half with an 18-4 run. RMU asked for time with just over 10 minutes left following a Morton-Robertson 3-pointer.
RMU shot 39.4 percent (26-of-66). The 'Dons shot 50.8 percent (32-of-63). The 'Dons had only six turnovers while forcing 15 mistakes for the Colonials.
Purdue Fort Wayne finishes the regular season 20-11 (11-9 Horizon League). Robert Morris falls to 10-21 (6-14 Horizon League).
