MURRAY, Ky. – Ellie Zagel was third in the javelin for the Purdue Fort Wayne women's track and field team on Saturday (Mar. 23) at the Margaret Simmons Invite.
Zagel was third with a best mark of 37.02m in her outdoor debut. Kelsey Shatava earned a fifth place performance in the in the high jump at 1.55 meters. The Mastodons had two of the top five in the shotput. Nakia Harris-Campbell (11.84 meters) was fourth and Abbigail Garwood (11.50 meters).
The Mastodons were fourth in the 4x400 relay at 4:00.61. Madeline McClerren, Ella Jenkins, Korynne Moga and Kassie Jordan combined for the time. Jordan also used a time of 12.76 to take seventh in the 100 meters.
Ava Genovese used a time of 2:22.21 to take fourth in the 800. In the 1500 meters, Riley Tate took sixth (4:49.62).
As a team the Mastodons finished fourth of 13 teams with 75.5 points.
The 'Dons will be split across three meets next weekend. Athletes will compete at the Texas Relays (Mar. 27-30), Bobcat Invitational (Mar. 28-30), and the Washington Distance Carnival (Mar. 29).
