Reed Breaks Own School Record at Gibson Invitational

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Jai Reed set a Purdue Fort Wayne women's track and field program record in the 100 meters on Saturday (April 20) at the Gibson Invitational.
Reed crossed the line at 11.61 to take second place in the event. She breaks her own school record of 11.96 that she set earlier this year.
Lia Rivers threw a personal best shot put of 13.86 meters to place third. Also in the field was Louiza Kruiswijk who long jumped 5.60m for a sixth place finish.
Haylee Hile finished fifth in the steeplechase with a time of 11:28.69. Dylan Kirkwood took ninth in the 400 meter hurdles at 1:06.00.
Aniya Young had a time of 25.57 in the 200. Kassie Jordan led the 'Dons in the 400, finishing in 57.89. Ava Genovese notched a PR time of 2:19.41 for 13th in the 800. Three PRs were earned in the 1500 meters by Riley Tate (4:42.76), Lydia Carrell (4:52.79) and Faith Allen (5:03.02).
Purdue Fort Wayne earned 35 points to take sixth. Host Indiana State won the event with 208.5 points.
The 'Dons are back in action on May 3-5 at the 2024 Horizon League Outdoor Championships.
