Mastodon Men's Golf Takes the Country Roads to Open Season in West Virginia

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The Purdue Fort Wayne men's golf team will open the 2024-25 season on Monday (Sept. 9) when they compete in the Joe Feaganes Marshall Invitational for the fourth season in a row.

About the Course
The course at Guyan Golf and Country Club is a masterpiece for those that play it and those that tour it. Nestled in a river valley in the eastern side of Huntington, West Virginia, the course and the challenge it provides have always been a centerpiece or our region.
Mastodon Lineup
Justin Hicks, AJ Agnew, Brock Reschly, Nick Holder and Julian Dugan will compete for the Mastodons' team score. Cody Coleman will play as an individual.
Hometown Heroes
Justin Hicks and Nick Holder are both from Fort Wayne. Hicks played for Leo High School and Holder played for Bishop Dwenger High School.
High Expectations
Purdue Fort Wayne is coming off its best season in program history in terms of scoring average, which saw the Mastodons average a four-player score of 290.1, over three strokes better than the previous record from 2022-23.
Record Breakers
The last time the Mastodons played in the Joe Feaganes Marshall Invitational, they set 36-hole and 54-hole records with 557 and 846. Those marks still stand as the Mastodon records in those categories.
Last Season Recap
Purdue Fort Wayne finished as the runner-up at the Horizon League Championship and won back-to-back regular season tournaments, the Sacred Heart Invitational and the Don Benbow Butler Spring Invitational. The Mastodons graduated the top three players from that squad, Kasey Lilly, Hunter Mefford and Burke Pitz, all of whom finished as in the top-10 in program history.

The Mastodons will head north to compete in Oakland's Golden Grizzlies Invitational in Rochester, Michigan on September 14-15.
