'Dons Suffer First Home Loss With 68-58 Decision to Cleveland State

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – Eric Mulder scored 13 points while adding five rebounds, but it wasn't enough for the Purdue Fort Wayne men's basketball team on Thursday (Jan. 30). The Mastodons fell 68-58 to first-place Cleveland State.
A crowd of 2,603 and a national television audience on ESPNU witnessed the contest at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum. Rasheed Bello also had 13 points while adding six steals and Jalen Jackson finished with 12 points and five assists.
The Vikings shot 46.9 percent (23-of-49) while adding 14 points from the free throw line. Chase Robinson had a game-high 20 points for the Vikings.
The 'Dons earned good looks beyond the arc but finished at 5-of-32 from three. Two of the treys came late in the first half, made by Jackson and Bello, to get the Mastodon deficit to 33-25.
Cleveland State led the entire second half. Bello earned a steal and a dunk on the other end to make the score 60-53 with 3:07 remaining. A CSU turnover followed and the 'Dons had a look at a three on the ensuing possession to cut the deficit to four points, but it rimmed out and CSU held on from there.
Cleveland State improves to 17-6 (11-1 Horizon) with their 13th consecutive win. The 'Dons fall to 15-8 (8-4 Horizon) and head to Milwaukee on Sunday (Feb. 2).
