Women's Track & Field Complete Day One at Notre Dame

SOUTH BEND, Ind. - The Purdue Fort Wayne women's track and field program began day one of competition at Notre Dame's Meyo Invitational on Friday (Jan. 31).
The 60 meter dash was a popular event for the four competing 'Dons. Freshman Harmony Johnson set a personal record with her time of 7.70, earning her fourth. Aniya Young also crossed the finish line in 7.70 seconds, tying her personal record and placing fifth. Jai Reed was the first Mastodon to finish the race, taking third with her time of 7.69. Jordan Yanders ran the event in 7.95, finishing in 22nd.
Young also competed in the 200 meter dash, completing the event in a personal record time of 25.22 and in seventh.
Freshman Jaliyah Page recorded a personal record in the 60 meter hurdles qualifier. The time of 8.87 earned her first place.
Two Mastodons competed in the lone throws event of the day, shot put. Ali Sparks placed fourth in the event with a mark of 14.27 meters. Emery Carrico threw for 11.86 meters, finishing in 20th.
The DMR squad, consisting of Ava Genovese, Marissa Van De Weg, Bella Hodges and Riley Tate, took sixth in the meet (11:49.66).
Lydia Carrell ran a time of 18:25.88 in the 5000 meters, placing 42nd. Mercedes Sarver also competed in the event, finishing in 18:35.45 and 44th overall.
Haylee Hile, Sanayah Ruffin, Amelie Mach, Lillian Hurd, Sparks, Genovese, Carrell, Yanders, Page, Young, Reed, Johnson, Tate and Van De Weg are all set to compete in day two of the Meyo Invitational (Feb. 1).
