Men’s Soccer Falls on the Road at CSU

CLEVELAND – The Purdue Fort Wayne men's soccer team fell 3-1 at first-place Cleveland State on Saturday (Oct. 25) evening in a Horizon League contest.
It looked like the two teams would go to half scoreless before Cleveland State scored in the final minutes of the opening period to go up 1-0. Uzman Ramees scored the tally, assisted by Peleg Armendariz and Matteo Correia.
Cleveland State put the game away with a goal in the 52nd minute and another in the 57th. Peleg Armendariz scored in the 52nd on a long pass from Uzman. It was Uzman finding the back of the net in the 57th, striking a bouncing ball in the box.
Iann Topete got the 'Dons on the board in the 88th minute. Stefan Iricanin assisted on the goal. Topete has seven goals in 2025.
Purdue Fort Wayne had a 16-13 edge in shots and 11-5 in shots on goal. They also led 5-1 in corners.
Purdue Fort Wayne falls to 6-2-5 (3-2-2 Horizon League). Cleveland State stays undefeated in league at 6-2-6 (4-0-3 Horizon League). The first-place Vikings now have 15 points, up four points on the second-place 'Dons at 11. Robert Morris also has 11 points.
The Mastodons have two games left in the regular season. Next up is a road match at Detroit Mercy on Halloween evening.
