FORT WAYNE, Ind. - Purdue Fort Wayne men's volleyball head coach Donny Gleason announced the signing of Mateo Foronda and Nolan Cocat for the 2027 season.
"We are excited to welcome these two players into the Mastodon MVB program," Gleason said. "Mateo brings a high level of volleyball IQ to the gym and just has a knack for putting his attackers in spots to be successful. He brings a creativeness and passion to the court that will help elevate our gym. Nolan has the potential to be great at the next level. His combination of size and quickness allows him to be a force as a blocker, and his desire to learn and improve is a natural fit in our gym environment. We are looking forward to working with both young men next fall."
Foronda is a 6-foot-4 setter from Weston, Florida. Foronda led Cypress Bay to back-to-back District Champion runs in 2024 and 2025. He was selected for Broward County's Most Valuable Player in 2022, All-Broward County First Team twice (2024, 2023), 2024 Miami Volley Classic All-Tournament Team and a spot on Team Florida in 2022. Foronda played club ball for Tribe Volleyball (2024-25) and Miami United (2021-24). He earned a 2022 So-Cal Classic All-Tournament Team selection during Miami United's third-place finish at the So-Cal Classic.
Cocat is a 6-foot-10 middle blocker from Roselle, Illinois. He recorded 218 blocks and 209 total kills in his career with Lake Park. Cocat led the Lancers to Sectional and Regional champions in 2025, finishing in the State Qualifiers. Lake Park was also 2024 regional champions. Cocat was named All-Conference twice (2025, 2024) and All-State Honorable Mention in 2025. He played club ball for Future VB Club from 2023-26.
Foronda and Cocat will join the Mastodons in the fall of 2026.
