Marissa Van De Weg Breaks School Record at Fairgrounds Invitational

INDIANAPOLIS AND ANGOLA, Ind. - The Purdue Fort Wayne women's track and field team attended both the Mrs. G Invitational (Feb. 7), hosted by Trine, and Fairgrounds Invitational (Feb. 8), setting 14 personal records and a school record at the meets.
Marissa Van De Weg was the highlight of the meet, setting the new school record in the 600 meters. The Decatur native ran a 1:35.88 to take seventh in the event at the Fairgrounds Invitational.
Kaylee Rogaczewski was the lone Mastodon to win an event over the weekend. Her 5.56 meter long jump at the Fairgrounds tied her personal record.
Bella Hodges ran the 800 meters in a personal record time of 2:15.84 to earn second in Indianapolis.
Riley Tate and McKayla Henry secured the highest finishes in the Mrs. G Invitational, both placing second in their respective events. Henry threw for a mark of 12.22 meters. Tate completed the mile in 5:07.20. Haylee Hile also ran the mile, finishing fifth with a personal record time of 5:10.91.
Fort Wayne native Emery Carrico threw a personal record mark of 12.74 meters at the Fairgrounds Invitational. Her mark placed second at the meet.
Jai Reed finished third in both the preliminary and final rounds of the 60 meter dash in Indy. The grad student ran a 7.59 in the final.
Senior Jordan Yanders placed fifth in the 60 meter hurdles to qualify for the finals. Her time of 8.74 earned her fourth in the final round at the Fairgrounds.
Kynzlei Bassett completed the 3000 meters in 11:26.54 at Trine to take fourth.
Madeline McClerren ran a personal record 400 meter dash in her first appearance of the season. The juniors time of 57.39 earned her fifth in Indianapolis.
Ava Genovese, Amelie Mach, Sanayah Ruffin, Ella Jenkins, Ellie Zagel, Lillian Hurd and Harmony Johnson also set personal records.
The 'Dons travel to Allendale, Mich. for the Big Meet (Feb. 14), hosted by GVSU.
