Mastodon Track & Field Travels to GVSU's Big Meet

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The Purdue Fort Wayne track & field teams travel to Grand Valley State for the Big Meet on Friday (Feb. 14) and Saturday (Feb. 15). This is the sixth time that the Mastodons have competed at the Big Meet.

Last Time Out for the Women
The Mastodons took on both the Mrs. G Invitational (Feb. 7), hosted by Trine, and Fairgrounds Invitational (Feb. 8). Jai Reed completed the 60 meter dash in 7.59 at the Indianapolis Fairgrounds to take third in both the meet and the Horizon League standings. Madeline McClerren ran both the 200 meter and 400 meter dash in Indy. McClerren finished the 400 meter dash in 57.39 to place fifth in both the meet and in the league. Her 200 meter dash time of 24.95 placed seventh in Indy and seventh in HL standings.
Last Time Out for the Men
Like the women, the 'Dons were in action in two meets last week. Jonas Morris ran the 400 meter dash in 47.99 to take second at the Indianapolis Fairgrounds. The time would be third in the Horizon League, but Morris already holds the first place time. Andrew Roman tied his personal record in pole vault (4.70 meters) in Indianapolis to take fourth in both the meet and in the Horizon League standings. Freshman Logan Teichman threw for 15.41 meters in shot put at Trine. The mark took first at the meet and sits fifth in league standings.
It's Too EZE
Ezra Lewellen was named Horizon League Men's Track & Field Runner of the Week (Feb. 4) after breaking the program's 60 meter dash record at the Meyo Invitational (Feb. 1). Lewellen's time of 6.72 is tied for for fastest in the league.

Jonas Morris earned Horizon League Men's Track & Field Runner of the Week (Jan. 27) honors after breaking two school records at the Brant Tolsma Invitational (Jan. 23-25). He ran a 21.56 in the 200 meter dash and 47.87 in the 400 meter dash. Both times rank first in the the Horizon League.
