Purdue Fort Wayne Softball Sweeps Horizon League Weekly Awards

INDIANAPOLIS - Purdue Fort Wayne softball picked up the Horizon League Player and Pitcher of the Week awards on Wednesday (March 12). Grace Hollopeter was named the Player of the Week and Alanah Jones was selected as the Pitcher of the Week.
Hollopeter went 7-for-10 from the plate for a .700 batting average, helping Purdue Fort Wayne to a pair of wins over Indiana State. She slugged 1.300, finishing the week with three doubles and a home run. She knocked in seven RBIs, including the go-ahead run in each game against the Sycamores. This is Hollopeter's fourth Player of the Week award in her career and first of her junior season. Hollopeter is the first Mastodon position player to earn four Player of the Week awards in her career since Kristina Karpun (2008-11).
Jones went 2-0 with two complete game wins over Indiana State to earn the Pitcher of the Week award. She threw a shutout against the Sycamores in game one with five strikeouts, then had four more in the rematch. For the week, she registered a 1.62 ERA with nine strikeouts. This is Jones' second Pitcher of the Week award twice of her career and first this season.
Hollopeter, Jones and the Mastodons are in action this week when Horizon League play opens at IU Indianapolis.
