'Dons Announce 2025 Outdoor Track & Field Schedule

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - Purdue Fort Wayne track & field announced their 2025 outdoor schedule. The Mastodons will compete in-state on four occasions this season: Polar Bear Invite (March 21-22), Pacesetter Sports Invitational (March 29), Little State Championships (April 11-12) and Gibson Invitational (April 17-19). The Horizon League Championships will be held at Youngstown State on May 9-11th.
The Mastodon teams get back to action on March 21-22 in Marion, Ind. for the Polar Bear Invite at Indiana Wesleyan. The 'Dons finish out the month of March between the WashU Distance Carnival (March 27-28), hosted by Washington (Mo.) and the 2025 Pacesetter Sports Invitational (March 29), at Indiana State. This will be Purdue Fort Wayne's third year attending Washington's (Mo.) Distance Carnival.
The 'Dons will split ranks to begin April, at the Spartan Invitational (April 4), hosted by Michigan State, and the VertKlasse Meetin at High Point (April 4-5).
The Mastodons will stay in-state for the following two weeks, returning to Indiana Wesleyan for the Little State Championships (April 11-12) and back to Indiana State for the Gibson Invitational (April 17-19). Purdue Fort Wayne has competed in the Gibson Invitational for the last four seasons. The 'Dons finish off April at Grand Valley State's GVSU Extra Weekend Meet (April 26).
Purdue Fort Wayne will travel to Youngstown State for the 2025 Horizon League Outdoor Championships on May 9-11. The Mastodon women were selected second in the Horizon League Outdoor Preseason Poll, while the men were voted fourth.
The women's squad is fresh off their highest Horizon League Indoor Championships finish ever, taking runner-up on March 2. The 'Dons brought home both freshman awards for the indoor season, Lillian Hurd earning Horizon League Freshman of the Year - Runner and Amelie Mach being named Horizon League Freshman of the Year - Field. Six Mastodons left the meet as event champions: Hurd (400m), Ali Sparks (weight throw and shot put), Jordan Yanders (60m hurdles) and the 4x400 meter relay team (Sanayah Ruffin, Hurd, Marissa Van De Weg and Mach).
The men's team finished fourth in the Horizon League Indoor Championships (March 2). Ezra Lewellen took the title of 60 meter dash for the second year in a row. Jonas Morris left the meet as 400 meter dash champion. Jonas Morris also aided in the fastest 4x400 meter relay squad in the league, along with Lewellen, Cainen Northington and Noah Morris.
